DataStart: The Southern Startup Internship Program in Data Science   Call for Proposals Applications due May 1, 2016

DataStart provides graduate students from the *South region the opportunity to work with host data-related startup companies on data-intensive business challenges important to the company and relevant to the student’s course of study. Eligible graduate students will be paid for their work through a grant to the startup company, and it is up to the students to identify their proposed host company.

The program is designed to facilitate connections between graduate students in data science-related fields and entrepreneurial firms in the South, helping to strengthen academic-industrial connections and enhancing the entrepreneurial culture in the South.

This 2016 summer program is administered by the South BD Hub, a program managed by UNC Chapel Hill and Georgia Tech that includes dozens of southern universities, companies, and non-profits across a 16 state region which are part of the National Science Foundation’s Big Data Regional Innovation Hub (BD Hub) program.  Regards, The South BD Hub Team *The program is open to graduate students in good standing at accredited universities in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
