Research Data Management Workshop #2: Selecting an Electronic Research Notebook
The selection of a research notebook is contingent on the data needs of the researchers which varies across disciplines. Storage and security are important for protecting and managing data for current and future use. This workshop will review data from Exploring electronic lab notebooks (ELN) at UF (2020) survey while introducing participants to various features and functionality to consider when selecting an electronic research notebook (ERN).
In this workshop, participants will learn:
- How to consider features and functionality of an electronic research notebook?
- What to know about do-it-yourself (DIY) documentation systems?
- How to pick a notebook?
- When to submit a UF Integrated Risk Management (IRM) if collecting, storing, transmitting, or processing restricted using an electronic research notebook?
- How to develop a DIY documentation ELN/ERN using OneDrive or Dropbox?
